Fact or Fiction....puzzling

Post by flight _of_angelwings » Mon Apr 09, 2007 5:22 am

There are a few things I do wonder about when it comes to what is real and what is not. So for a start

* Can dipping someones wrist in cold water actually make them wet the bed?

* Can a bad scare really turn your hair white?

* Are the Prime Minister of Australia, John Howards eye brows stick on's?

* Will eating bread crusts turn you hair curly?

* You can not sneeze with your eyes open?

* Is it true you can cook and egg on a car?

* Is a fish cooked in a dishwasher really that edible and tasty?

* If a shark can swim under water? Why cant a car salesman?

* Can a mobile phone ignite fuel at a fuel station?

* Can chewing you toenails perforate your insides?

* Can your head really explode if you went outside to water the plants on the moon and forgot to put your space suit on?

Here are my thoughts....

* Can dipping someones wrist in cold water actually make them wet the bed? YES

* Can a bad scare really turn your hair white? YES BUT NOT IMMEDIATELY, AFTER A DAY OR SO PERHAPS

* Are the Prime Minister of Australia, John Howards eye brows stick on's? NO

* Will eating bread crusts turn you hair curly? NO, HAIR FOLLICLES ARE NATURALLY STRAIGHT, WAVY OR CURLY AND BREAD CANNOT AFFECT THEM

* You can not sneeze with your eyes open? IT IS IMPOSSIBLE

* Is it true you can cook and egg on a car? YES, IF IT IS HOT ENOUGH

* Is a fish cooked in a dishwasher really that edible and tasty? I DOUBT IT

* If a shark can swim under water? Why cant a car salesman? HE PROBABLY COULD, HE WOULD NEED TO BE STRAPPED TO A LARGE ANVIL

* Can a mobile phone ignite fuel at a fuel station? THE SPARKS FROM IT POSE A SMALL RISK, YES

* Can chewing you toenails perforate your insides? NO, YOUR STOMACH ACID BREAKS EVERYTHING DOWN BUT SWALLOWING NEEDLES IS NOT RECOMMENDED

* Can your head really explode if you went outside to water the plants on the moon and forgot to put your space suit on? PROBABLY BUT NO ONE WANTS TO TEST THIS

In relation to the Can a mobile phone ignite the fuel in a petrol station, the answer is actually NO, a test was carried out with 8 mobile phones all ringing at the same time in a caravan doused with gallons of petrol, and the result, no fire no explosion (those in the UK may know of the science programme Brainiacs who carried out this test(they like trying different ways to blow caravans up)), one of the main reasons why your not allowed to use a mobile phone in a petrol station is because the signal from the phones actually interferes with the petrol pumps and can give an inaccurate reading as to how much petrol you have put in the car (little known fact), the restriction is for the same reason you cant use a mobile in a hospital (interference with the equipment)

althought its been proven that mobile phones do not interfere with medical equiptment and the main reason you aren't allowed mobile phones in hospital is you don't want to listen to peoples conversations on the phone when you've come out of theatre and your in agony. Also because there is a profit to be made from the phone comapnies who operate the phone systems that are attached to the tv's next to the bed.
Enjoy when you can and endure when you must.

My take on things:

* Can dipping someones wrist in cold water actually make them wet the bed?
I don't know about cold water, but luke warm works perfectly, I've tried it on hapless victims before.

* Can a bad scare really turn your hair white?
I highly doubt it. Hair is not actually living tissue anymore after it leaves the folicle. Kind of like fingernails and toe nails, once it grows out, that's how it will stay. If a really bad scare somehow stopped the production of pigment in the hairs folicle, I suppose it would start to grow out white from then on, but would not affect the part of the hair that's already grown and visible.

* Are the Prime Minister of Australia, John Howards eye brows stick on's?
Yes.

* Will eating bread crusts turn you hair curly?
Nope, bread has nothing to do with hair.

* You can not sneeze with your eyes open?
Involuntary muscle contraction, like breathing or coughing. You automatically squeeze your eyes shut so your sneeze doesn't pop your eyes out of your head.

* Is it true you can cook and egg on a car?
Unfortunately yes. Egging someones car in the middle of summer, sure way to ruin their paint job forever. For some reason cooked on egg is one of the hardest things to remove from car paint.

* Is a fish cooked in a dishwasher really that edible and tasty?
Edible probably, tasty, I don't know about that. Depends on if you just tossed it in there and boiled him in the suds, or if he was foil wrapped and steamed instead maybe.

* If a shark can swim under water? Why cant a car salesman?
Because everyone knows scum floats, ergo, car salesmen float.

* Can a mobile phone ignite fuel at a fuel station?
Nope, but people get scared of blowing up and so it's illegal. Then again, like jaywalking, no one cares and everyone does it anyways.

* Can chewing you toenails perforate your insides?
More important question. Why on earth would I want to chew my toenails?

* Can your head really explode if you went outside to water the plants on the moon and forgot to put your space suit on?
Wait, plants on the moon outside? If my head blew up, wouldn't the plants blow up too? Most plants are much more fragile than my thick skull. So if there is plants outside on the moon, and I'm watering them, my head probably won't explode. I may suffocate from lack of air though.

Have seen this on a joke site somewhere :smt003

* Can dipping someones wrist in cold water actually make them wet the bed?
Depends if you are urgently needing to empty the bladder?

* Can a bad scare really turn your hair white?
Many scares over many years can create major stress. Stressful lives may tend hair to grey prematurely.

* Are the Prime Minister of Australia, John Howards eye brows stick on's?
Lol no. Anyway, last I heard it was a UNI-brow! :smt003

* Will eating bread crusts turn you hair curly?
Just like carrots make you see better in the dark?
Hmmm,I ate both, and have straight hair with a need for glasses soon :smt012

* You can not sneeze with your eyes open?
Just tried....doesn't work :)
* Is it true you can cook and egg on a car?
Possibly, but I wouldn't eat an egg cooked on a car..yuk!

* Is a fish cooked in a dishwasher really that edible and tasty?
And full of chemicals and soap too?

* If a shark can swim under water? Why cant a car salesman?
No room in the ocean for both!

* Can a mobile phone ignite fuel at a fuel station?
No, apparently proven now

* Can chewing you toenails perforate your insides?
I can't even contemplate the thought without feeling rather ill :smt012

* Can your head really explode if you went outside to water the plants on the moon and forgot to put your space suit on?
um...totally stumped here...why would you forget a space suit in space? You get to have a normal set of clothes up there too?
Dare to Dream...

You actually will freeze to death before explosions or suffocations if you left your spacecraft without your suit. :smt003

And bread crusts in my family always put hair on your chest. (As a result of this, I don't eat crust)
