Hindu Wisdom and Meditation

The word "Philosophy" is derived from the Ancient Greek - philosophía (compounded from phílos: friend, or lover and sophía: wisdom). To quote from WikiPedia, "Philosophy is the discipline concerned with the questions of what is the right way to live (ethics), what sorts of things ultimately exist and what are their essential natures (metaphysics), what is to count as genuine knowledge (epistemology), and what are the correct principles of reasoning (logic).

Gentleness, self-sacrifice and generosity are the exclusive possession of no one race or religion.

-Mahatma Gandhi, 1930

Don't bother just to be better than your contemporaries or predecessors. Try to be better than yourself.

-William Faulkner

Meditation Transcript:
Hello. I'm Liz Owen, and I will be guiding you into a few minutes of deep relaxation. I hope this special time will allow you to find within yourself a source of restored energy and healing.
Begin by lying down comfortably on a mat or blanket. Support your head on a folded blanket so that your neck and throat are soft. And support your knees on a bolster to lengthen and release your spine.

Release your shoulders away from your neck and allow your arms and your legs to rest slightly away from your body.
Breathe softly and naturally, focusing your mind on the sensations in your body, as warm, nurturing breath flows into every part of yourself.

Follow your breath with your mind as it flows into your chest, your shoulders, your arms. Let go in your arms.
Feel softness and openness in the palms of your hands. Let go in your hands.

Follow your breath into your hips, through your legs and into your feet. Let go in your legs. Let go in your feet.

Let go. Let go. Let go.

Feel your chest open, receiving each in-breath as a gift of healing life force from the universe.

Open to life force energy flowing through your body. Visualize this energy as gently pulsating streams of light.

Feel your body becoming renewed and restored as flowing luminous energy penetrates and brings healing from deep within your core into each layer of your body.

Let your mind become silent. Rest in this place of light deep within your center.

Visualize your body healed and whole, supported by the light of the universe.

You may remain in deep relaxation as long as you are comfortable. When you are ready, begin to move your body, gently and lovingly, so that you don't disturb the healing that has taken place.

Slowly roll over onto your side and come to a comfortable seated position.

Bring your palms together at your heart.

Honor your source of healing within.

The divine in me deeply honors the divine in you.

Namaste.

Many people worry so much about managing their careers, but rarely spend half that much energy managing their lives. I want to make my life, not just my job, the best it can be. The rest will work itself out.

Love and magic have a great deal in common. They enrich the soul, delight the heart. And they both take practice.
