I think if used properly, DMT as well as Psylocibin can be theraputic in the quest for inner knowledge.  Shamanistic practices utilize different plants for this inner vision and perform healing and readings as a result.  Terrence McKenna has investigated first hand, how these plants were used.  He has profound insight about them IMO.  The problem is that people use them not understanding thier power.  Recreational use, while it can be a thrill, should be discouraged.  Ritualistic use should be respected.

Off topic a little I know but DMT occurs naturally and is used extensivley in the Amazon basin by shamans.
