I do not know if anyone will ever see this posting, but if you are reading this I wish you and your family season's greetings, and an even happier, healthier and more successful new year, in 2020.
The Australian summer is definitely upon us, with huge areas of the country already consumed by mega bush fires, and maximum temperature records, many of which have stood for 80 years or more (particularly for this early in the season) being broken on an almost daily basis.
We are talking here about several days in a row (in our capital cities which are mainly scattered around the coastline) of temperatures in the high 40 degrees Celsius, with some inland communities experiencing over 50 degrees, many of them also running out of (or having already run out of) safe drinking water.
Made even worse by night time minimum temperatures not falling below 30 degrees, making sleep virtually impossible.
Natural disasters as well as extreme weather events such as those we are currently experiencing, often bring out both the best and worst in people.
It is almost impossible to reliably predict how we would each respond if placed in a similar situation to these everyday heroes, but I prefer to focus on the positives, as it gives me hope for the future of humanity, as well as of course a future for our one and only planet home.
Keep your loved ones and yourself safe this season, in whatever situation you find yourselves.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, from my family to yours,
Brian
